It is a variety successfully cultivated especially in California and Australia, where it is known by the name Shiraz.

In Italy it is wide spread mainly in Tuscany, Marche and Lazio, but in recent years it has been implanted in many other regions, making producers obtain excellent results.

Syrah has an excellent vigor, a good and constant production and the ripening period of the grapes is quite early.

The wines produced have an intense ruby red color; they are fruity, with strong notes of ripe red fruits, dry, often robust, tannic and quite warm. The blend with other grapes makes the wine even more full-bodied, ample and of excellent quality.
