Salento red wine of excellent quality.

Actually, even the Berliner Wein Trophy defines it a “golden wine”. In particular, a Protected Origin, PDO – Salento red wine, that is strongly linked to the land of Negroamaro and Malvasia. Indeed, it’s a red wine that for years has built its personality around the many merits obtained. Actually, it is not a novelty to celebrate its excellent quality. Indeed, it is the most internationally awarded wine from Vecchia Torre. In fact, last year  Salice Salentino PDO, won another gold medal at the Berliner Wein Trophy, that enphasize its high-quality. Especially relevant, it received the highest recognition at Vinitaly’s Five Star Wines, with a 92 /100, the best obtained from a Puglia Winery.  

Most noteworthy, even in previous years it gave great satisfaction. In fact, it obtained a gold medal at Mundus Vini 2016, and bronze at the Decanter World Wine Award.

The wine-making of this PDO Salento red wine

The Salice Salentino PDO Oak-aged  is made entirely from native grapes from Salento, in Puglia. Precisely, grapes are cultivated in the countryside of Salice Salentino and Leverano. At first, grapes are rasped. Subsequently, the must ferments in contact with the skins for 7-8 days. In particular, it must happens at a controlled temperature of 24-26 ° C. Finally, at the end of alcoholic and malolactic fermentation, the wine ages in French barriques for at least 6 months.

This PDO – Salento red wine has a remarkable aging capacity. Certainly, it can age from 3 to more years, depending on harvest. In particular, it has a garnet red color, with soft orange reflections. Precisely, it has hints of blackberry, sweet notes of cocoa and vanilla, that are strong and persistent. On the other hand, it is balanced, rich in body and structure. Ultimately, the best combination is with roasts, red meats and game.
